Destination: Reykjavík
Departure: 2:20pm, delayed, both flights
Las Vegas to Portland - uneventful, but flight was delayed 20 minutes or so.
Portland was a nice little airport. Before heading out to the gate, I had myself a yummy salad full of greens, and an extra free beverage the waitress accidentally poured. IcelandAir had an air of Island Time about them. The airport staff had no uniform, they were all just dressed in black. The flight was delayed and they didn’t make any sort of announcements, just kind of left it hanging. And, oops, someone didn’t empty the bathroom so we had to backtrack to Alberta, adding about 90 minutes to our flight.
On a good note, the delays meant that my parents arrived from Dublin just after I did and we were able to take the shuttle together to the hotel.
After checking in and meeting up with Tara, we headed out on the town. We went for a walk on the waterfront to the Harpa Concert Hall, then looped back around, walking the main downtown area and then out to the church before finding something to eat.
I went to bed early, and with a little NyQuil slept almost 11 hours. I’m still tired as I should be sleeping right now, but I think the jet lag won’t be too bad.
